Histopathology

Histopathology is a specialized division involved in the study of tissue samples obtained through biopsy or surgical excisions. These tissues are processed and examined using routine and special stains. Ancillary techniques such as immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, immunofluorescence and molecular diagnostics are also employed to achieve accurate diagnosis. These results are critical for diagnosis, to understand disease progression and in guiding treatment decisions, especially in oncology.
