The department performs Conventional cytogenetics, Cancer cytogenetics and Molecular cytogenetics tests. In conventional cytogenetics, constitutional structural and numerical chromosomal abnormalities are evaluated. Cancer Cytogenetics deals with detection of various chromosomal abnormalities assosiated with various hematological disorders like CML, AML, ALL etc. Molecular cytogenetics including Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH) technique is used for diagnostic confirmation, prognostication and therapeutic identification of targets in hematological disorders, solid tumors and prenatal testing.
